Make Your Primary Vote Count-Important Information
Where the primary will decide the general election as well, for example, where there is a Republican primary contest but no Democratic or No Party Affiliation (NPA) candidates are running for that position, then Democrats and those with No Party Affiliation may also vote in the Republican primary for that position.  To visit the State of Florida's website to learn more, please click on the campaign button to the right.

Florida Department of State
Division of Elections

This means that those registered as Democrats to vote for Percy in the Democratic Primary may also vote in the Republican Primaries in Commission Districts 1 and 5 where no Democrat or NPA is running since the Republican winning those primaries will presumptively win the General Election.  This rule is designed to protect the voting rights of NPAs and those whose party is not proposing a full ticket.

The only exception would be if there is a last minute filing by someone to run as a Democrat or NPA in Commission Districts 1 and 5. The very last day to file to run is June 20, 2008.
